Lyrics

Now that you're gone
You've done everything
You've been taken away
Oh I guess you've earned your wings

We're all gathered here
In this memory of you
This is one of those things
We're sad but honored to do

You were always there for everybody
You brought your bright rays of light to those cloudy days
You were an inspiration for everybody
Oh how we wish that you could stay

Now that you're gone
Oh you've done everything
You've been taken away
I know you've earned those wings

Now and through all the years
And through the lessons that we've learned
We look upon you as so much more
Than a friend

We miss you so much
We're all at a loss
We're here just thinkin' about you
Oh it's we that pay the cost

The memories are strong
Oh it hurts to live this song
The hardest part about this
Is livin' without you

You were always there for everybody
You brought the bright rays of light to the cloudy days
You were an inspiration for everybody
Oh how we wish that you could stay

Now that you're gone
You've done everything
You've been taken away
God knows you've earned your wings

Steve Alek
Steve had an idea for a song and wrote most of the lyrics for the song, These lyrics were presented to Peter Nunn and Peter and Steve fine tuned the song, After this was done Peter contacted Al and Al then worked with the lyrics to blend within the melody and got Steve's intentions for the song completed. The song was played at the funeral a few days later. In her hospital room Marilyn asked to listen to the song and it was played for her before she died and she gave Steve a big thumbs up !

"The song was written because I wanted to do something special for my wife's mother, She died of cancer on Feb 14th 2008"

This song was played at the funeral of Marilyn Maxey as an intro for guest's to the service, The song is very heartfelt and has just the right words and melody that it can be played at anyone's funeral.
